The Rogers Building

The Rogers Building is one of Orlando’s many famous historical landmarks. It also has a haunted past worth exploring. Discover it with US Ghost Adventures.

The Rogers Building

The Rogers Building is one of the most recognizable structures in downtown Orlando. It also happens to be the oldest building in the area, and its vibrant colors are impossible to miss as you make your way downtown.

Today, it has multiple uses, one being a cultural symbol of the city and a big part of the CityArts organization. But few visitors realize there’s another reason it’s such an iconic building: the ghosts that linger there.

Explore the historical and haunted aspects of the Rogers Building with US Ghost Adventures. Our tours of spooky Orlando let you see a side of the City Beautiful that may make the hairs on your neck rise.

The Early Days

The massive Victorian-style building was constructed over 130 years ago, right in the heart of Orlando. The property was created by Englishman Gordon Rogers and served as an English club for many years. While there was no official use of the club, it was widely known as a private gentleman’s club for the Orlando elite crowd.

Many events, such as dances and theatrical performances, took place on the second floor of the Rogers Building. Over time, it gradually became a prime location in downtown Orlando.

Then in 2018, the owner, Ford W. Kiene, donated the building to the Orlando City Council. His one condition for the donation was that the building would be a center for the arts for at least the next 20 years.

Ghosts at the Rogers Building

During the daytime, there’s virtually nothing intimidating about the Rogers Building. It’s vibrant, has a beautiful design, and looks quite inviting. However, things can get spooky as the sun goes down.

The Rogers Building has seen countless patrons and club members, and some people report seeing their spirits still visiting the clubhouse. Moreover, some people even claim to hear people talking and laughing inside the building even when it’s known to be empty.

The most famous spirit said to be haunting the Rogers Building is Gordon Rogers’ wife. She was apparently displeased that only wealthy men were allowed to go to the club. So, her spirit tries to disrupt any activity by wandering around the halls.

Many people claim to have seen the ghost of Rogers’ wife during late art shows at the Rogers Building. With that kind of story, we had to make it one of our stops on our Orlando Ghost Tour.
