HAUNTED TALES OF THE CITY

The history of Orlando started in 1838 at the height of the Seminole Wars. Fort Gatlin, south of present day Orlando, was established by the U.S. Army to protect settlers from Native American attacks. By 1840, a tiny community had grown up around the Fort. It was known as Jernigan, named after the Jernigan family who established the first settlement in the area.

Six years later, the settlement was expanding north, and the community officially changed its name to Orlando. While no one is sure of where its name really came from, one thing about the city is for certain. It’s a hotspot for nightlife, restaurants, and you guessed it – ghosts!

Where You'll Go

The Grand Bohemian Hotel

Lauded for its elite opulence, the Grand Bohemian Hotel holds so much history. It is known for the Bosendorfer Lounge inside the hotel, which boasts the “Best Dirty Martini Ever” and an Imperial Grand Bosendorfer piano, one of only two in existence. The Grand Bohemian Hotel hosts a wide variety of spirits. It is said that after the skeleton frame of the hotel had been constructed in the 1880s, one of the Irish stonemasons plunged to his death in what is now room 218.

Historic Angebilt Hotel

Welcome to one of Orlando’s original premier hotels, where guests were treated to pure opulence and could enjoy a beauty salon, barber shop, and a swanky cocktail lounge. Though it saw the likes of the rich and famous, it’s the hurricane that ravaged the 13th floor and the guests who were never found that gave it its notoriety. Today, this popular hotel is believed to be a portal to the other side. Luckily, you’ll have a few opportunities to consume some liquid courage for this terrifying tale.

Cocktails and Screams

We couldn’t have named this location better ourselves. The highlight of our tour, Orlando Haunts takes you inside every Halloween lover’s dream. Cocktails and Screams features decor from a variety of horror films and pays homage to every creature and otherworldly being we know and love. It’s the perfect place for last call and more spooky stories of Orlando’s dark past. Grab a Witch’s Brew drink and settle in for the grand finale of this boozy stroll through the haunted streets of Orlando.
