Welcome to Cincinnati Ghosts

Known as the “Paris of America” in the late 1800’s, Cincinnati has always prized its architecture, museums, cuisine, and universities. Though innovation propelled the city forward, a dark and ominous history was buried beneath haunted landmarks, and its reputation as a city of calamities, disease, death, and violence was hidden under the guise of the American Dream.

While some knew Cincinnati to be a passageway to freedom and salvation on the Underground Railroad, most knew it as their final destination and an eternal prison for unfortunate souls.

Embark on a ghost tour with Cincinnati Ghosts to discover hundreds of years worth of history and hauntings while you hear the bone-chilling true stories that make Cincinnati one of the most haunted locations in the US.

What Will I See?

Excavating a Gruesome History

Nestled on the Ohio River on the border of Ohio and Kentucky, Cincinnati is one of the nation’s most well-known cities, with a reputation for countless historic events, iconic places, and famous people of America’s past, including a man who rose to become both President of the United States and a Supreme Court Justice.

Unfortunately for those who have no idea what they’re treading on, “Cincy” also has a reputation for being the most haunted city in Ohio, and a giant burial ground for the unnamed victims of its past whose final resting places have been moved so many times, their souls are likely to never find peace again.

Some of Ohio’s most paranormal hotspots can be found in Cincinnati, including a haunted hall hiding a mysterious specter, an ancient brewery above subterranean tunnels, and a seemingly peaceful park built directly on top of a disturbed graveyard harboring the city’s unknown souls.

Cincinnati Ghosts will lead you on an unforgettable adventure through Queen City’s “Over-the-Rhine” (OTR) neighborhood and help you pull back the veil of ignorance hiding some of the darkest deeds of the city’s unbelievably tragic past. One of the most haunted sections of the city, OTR, was settled by German immigrants who became beer barons with a love for lager. In its heyday, OTR was home to breweries, theaters, saloons, bars, and beer gardens that lined the streets.

Now, it’s home to all manner of unexplained activity and shocking accounts of reported ghostly encounters are heard nightly.

Why is Cincinnati So Haunted?

A Tale of Two Names and One Ghastly Fate

Once a stop on the Underground Railroad, Cincinnati was founded on New Year’s Day, January 1st, 1802, barely 20 years after the birth of the nation. By 1820, less than two decades later, the city had become known by its citizens as “The Queen of the West” and then “Queen City” due to the spectacular growth experienced here.

However, it was originally the site of Fort Washington, protector of the entire Northwest Territory for over 25 years.  It would be named Cincinnati after the Roman General, Cincinnatus, who saved Rome from death and destruction.

Unfortunately, the city’s future would not share the legacy of its namesake as disease, dying, and death were just the beginning of Cincinnati’s tragic history, the foundations of which would be built upon the bones of its own dead, and the souls of the undying.

The Dead Who Declare The City Their Own

In one of Cincinnati’s oldest neighborhoods, charming streets by day boast horrific accounts of the past coming back to haunt its residents, whose ancestors and forebears witnessed bloodshed, tragedy, and crime since the day the neighborhood was built in the early 1800s. Spirits of the unmarked graves that were dug up to build Cincinnati Music Hall roam the area, some friendly, some not-so-kind. Old military hospitals, orphanages, outbreaks of disease and murders contribute heavily to the supernatural cloud that hangs over this neighborhood.

From military hospitals and mass graves, to disease and murders, this city holds some of the most horror-stricken truths that will send shockwaves through your veins.

Discover the devastation that lurks at Washington Park where the Cincinnati Orphanage Asylum occupied the grounds that later became a mass grave of bodies. Nearly two dozen graves were found on the grounds of this park, which explains much of the chilling paranormal activity that has been reported in this vicinity.

What’s So Special About This Ghost Tour?

Discover The Darker, More Sinister Side of a Beautiful Destination

As the Cincinnati skyline fades to black, a tour with Cincinnati ghosts will shock your senses with each step along the tour, revealing a darker side to Cincinnati you’ve never seen before. Starting the evening off at Memorial Hall, you’ll learn equal parts history and horror as your expert local guide takes you through this city’s tragic past, detail by horrid detail.

From haunted hotels to eerily peaceful parks, from spooky apparitions at antique stores to a graveyard of disease and death where you can still hear the gasps of the dying… this ghost tour has everything to turn your memorable experience into lovingly cherished and unforgettable nightmares.

Dare to visit the lavish Symphony Hotel that once served as a music boarding house, and now functions as a boutique hotel and restaurant. Though upholding the utmost elegance, visitors have experienced a darker side that is slightly less enchanting.

Particularly, in one of the rooms, a woman named Monica overdosed and died. Multiple guests have reported waking up to a woman in a red dress standing over them and breathing down their neck. Even a paranormal researcher who knew nothing of this hotel spent a fateful night in the very same room with a real-life encounter that made his blood run cold. He never returned to the hotel again and only told his story years later, needing to give voice to the victims of Cincinnati’s past.
